What does per-teacher pricing actually cost you?

Per-teacher software pricing costs a UK music school roughly £40 a month at eight teachers and £125 at thirty, against a flat £39. The crossover is around 8 teachers. Products that meter student lessons charge about £96 a month at 400 student lessons on their cheapest plan for that volume, and every pupil in a group counts separately. How to price a meter

Four things that make the number bigger than it looks.

Accounts, not people

Per-teacher plans charge per account. A part-timer, a cover teacher and an administrator each need one, and the plans that meter “teachers or staff” charge for all three.

Pupils, not lessons

A lesson meter counts each pupil in a group separately. A weekly class of twelve is roughly 48 student lessons a month, not four.

The cut on top

Some products take a percentage of every payment you collect as well as the subscription. On £4,000 of termly fees a month, 2.9% is more than most subscriptions.

And the fourth: price it at the size you will be in two years. A per-teacher meter is invisible at three teachers and decisive at fifteen. The full working, product by product, is in music school software, compared on the facts; teaching on your own, it is the solo-teacher version.

Why are the US prices approximate?
US list prices converted at approximately $1 = £0.78 for comparison only — the rate moves, and what a UK card is charged depends on the vendor’s own checkout. GBP prices are as published. That is why the dollar-priced products show a tilde: it is an indication of scale, not a quote.
At how many teachers does a per-teacher plan cost more than a flat one?
Around 8. At eight teachers MyMusicStaff lists $51.60 a month, about £40, and MakeMusic Studio $54.60, about £43, against £39 for LessonLoop School with unlimited teacher accounts. At thirty it is about £125 and about £128 against the same £39. My Music Lessons, priced in pounds, stays below £39 until roughly eleven teachers.
Why is Teachworks handled separately?
Because it does not meter teachers, it meters student lessons taught — $0.320 each on Starter. That scales with teaching volume and group size rather than with headcount, so the calculator prices it from your monthly lesson count instead. Every pupil in a group lesson counts as one student lesson.
Is LessonLoop really flat?
Yes. £15 a month Solo covers one teacher and unlimited pupils; £39 a month School covers unlimited teacher accounts, unlimited pupils, unlimited locations and unlimited rooms. There is no per-teacher fee, no per-lesson fee, no cut of your payments and no feature add-ons to buy. Annually it is £150 and £390.
