Connect your own AI assistant

Updated 27 June 2026 · 2 min read

Alongside the built-in LoopAssist, you can connect your own external AI assistant so it can read your studio data — students, lessons and invoices — and answer questions about it for you. The connection is read-only: your assistant can look at your data, but it can never change anything in LessonLoop.

Where to set it up

The connector lives under Settings → Integrations → “AI assistant connector”.

Connect an outside AI assistantSettings → Integrations → “AI assistant connector”

Good to know This is for connecting your own AI tool to LessonLoop. It is separate from LoopAssist, the assistant already built into the app — you don't need to connect anything to use LoopAssist.

Connect your assistant

  1. Open Settings (the gear in the left sidebar), then choose Integrations.
  2. On the AI assistant connector card, choose Enable connector.
  3. A connector URL appears — copy it into your own AI assistant, following that tool’s instructions for adding a connector or data source.
  4. Once linked, your assistant can answer questions grounded in your live studio data.

What it can — and can’t — do

Your connected assistant has read-only access. It can read across your studio so it can answer questions like “which students are overdue?” or “what’s on the calendar next Tuesday?” — but it can only read:

  • It can read students, lessons and invoices.
  • It cannot create, edit, delete or send anything.
  • It cannot take payments, change billing, or message families.

Worth knowing Because access is read-only, connecting an outside assistant can't accidentally change your records. Anything you want actioned still happens in LessonLoop, where you stay in control.

What your assistant can see

By default, your connected assistant sees only minimal student identifiers — a first name plus last initial, never full names or contact details. That’s enough for everyday questions like “which students are overdue?” without sending personal data out of LessonLoop.

If you need more, there’s an explicit opt-in — Share full student detail — on the connector card. Turning it on also shares surnames, email, phone and guardian contact details with your chosen AI assistant. It’s off until you choose it.

Student notes are never shared, whichever setting you choose.

Worth knowing Sharing full detail sends children's personal data to your chosen AI provider, so only turn it on if you need it. You can switch it back off at any time.

Turning it off

You can disconnect at any time from the same place — Settings → Integrations → “AI assistant connector”. Once removed, your external assistant immediately loses access to your studio data.
