Post studio news for families

Updated 6 September 2026 · 2 min read

News is your studio’s noticeboard. Write a notice once — a concert, the term’s key dates, a closure, a warm welcome back — and every family sees it on their portal Home, with the newest at the top. Nothing is emailed when you publish; when you want families told, you send the notice through the group message screen, from the same place.

Where it lives

Open the Growth group in the left sidebar and choose News, or press ⌘K and type “news”. Owners and admins can write and manage posts; a teacher or finance member who opens the page is told plainly that studio news is written by owners and admins.

News arrives with the Running weekly milestone — one invoice sent and five registers marked — and you can bring it forward at any time from Grow.

Write a post

  1. Choose Write a post.
  2. Give it a title and write the body. It is plain text, up to 20,000 characters, and line breaks are kept, so paragraphs read exactly as you wrote them.
  3. Choose Save as draft to keep it to yourself, or Publish to put it on every family’s portal Home straight away.

A draft is only ever seen by your staff. Editing a published post updates it on the portal at once; deleting it removes it from the portal at once.

What families see

The Studio news card on the portal Home shows the three newest published posts, each with its date and a short extract and a Read more that opens the whole post. Once there are more than three, an All news link lists every published post. Families reach news from Home — it is not a tab in the portal menu, so their menu stays calm.

Send it to every family

Publishing puts the notice on the portal and emails no one. When you want families told, choose Send to families on a published post. The group message screen opens with the post’s title as the subject and its body as the message, addressed to every family of the studio, and you can edit it before it goes. The send follows the same rules as any group message: who receives it, the live recipient count, consent and unsubscribe. The post itself is untouched.

Good to know Send to families is a separate step on purpose, so a small correction to a published notice never becomes a second email to every family.
