Lend instruments and books

Studios lend things out constantly — a starter violin, a theory workbook, a spare tuner — and it’s studio property that walks out of the door. The Lending Library keeps the register: what you own, who has it, and when it’s due back.

Where it lives

Open Teaching → Lending Library in the left sidebar (/lending).

Add your items

Select Add an item and give it a name, a type (instrument, book or accessory), and an optional reference code — useful when you own several of the same thing (VLA-014 beats “the other viola”). Items start Available.

Lend something out

  1. Select Lend an item.
  2. Pick the item and the student borrowing it.
  3. Set the due date — when you expect it back.

The item moves to On loan, showing who has it and when it’s due. Parents can see what’s on loan to them in their portal, so there’s no mystery about what came home in the school bag.

Returns and overdue items

When it comes back, select Return on the loan and the item is Available again.

The list filters by All / Available / On loan / Overdue, and anything past its due date wears an Overdue badge with the days counted — so a quick glance at the Overdue filter tells you exactly what to chase at the next lesson.

Good to know Teachers see the Lending Library too, so whoever actually hands the viola over can record the loan — you don't have to funnel everything through the office.
